Enrollment is Closed for

Pharaohs to Forensics

We are Proud to Present

Our Newest Program

"Weird Science..Pharaohs to Forensics"

5 Sessions on Thursdays

Dates: Jan 26, Feb 2, 9, 16, 23

Time: Upon Dismissal until 4:00
(7.5 hours total)

Tuition: $79/student

We are having quite a different program this winter! Testing statistics show that students show lower numbers in "Social Studies/history" and "Science".

We have decided to combine the two, Science and History and present a very unique, and interesting program to the students.

We mentioned our ideas to many students and teachers this past fall, and everyone thought it would be a very exciting program. Please note that there will be No Rocket Building or Launching during this winter program as weather will not permit...However, the hands-on indoor activities will be HUGE!

What we will be doing:

During our Sessions we will, take a "flight" to the past, come to the present, and project into the future!

The Science of Ancient Egypt:

Lots of science...amazing culture!

We will learn the science behind mummification, make a mummy, learn about the pyramids, math and science involved, writing, art.

BEST! We will have a guest Anthropologist share her knowledge and experiences in this session of our program!
Renee Lowe's background is in Native American culture and also has rich knowledge of ancient Egyptian culture.

Science during Medieval times

We will design Medieval castles and make catapults to "Storm the Castle"! Catapults will teach velocity, mass, distance.

Science and Magic

Is it really Magic...or chemistry? We will make invisible ink, do some experiments that will appear to be "magic"...

Forensic Science

CSI and NCIS Fans... Grissom and Abby would like this session!

We will become CSI's, make a CSI kit, take fingerprints, evidence and solve a mystery.

Probing Planets

What would life be like on other planets, what are some NASA projects seeking out, create a tornado in a bottle, learn about the electromagnetic field, build an electromagnet.

WOW!

BOOST GLIDER ROCKET

Then we will construct the Rocket which will carry the Glider into space and release it. The Rocket will come down with a streamer and the Glider will glide back to earth!

THANK YOU MARIAN AND HOLLY FOR H ELPING US!

        HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU!

Ms. Taylor loved to take her class through the Nature Trail on the Chalker Property to the beautiful "classrooms'" that the Boy Scouts had constructed a number of years ago.

However, the path was overgrown with bushes and debris which made it unsafe
and pretty messy.  SO-  being the "Super Rocket Teacher - Trail Blazer" that  she is.. she spent a couple of weeks before school started to clean up the path.  We believe she had a little help here and there, but for the most part, it was a solo job.

When we heard of her, Pioneer Escapades, Mr. David offered to Build some Bird Houses and Feeders to entice birds to make their homes in so the kids could see them up close.

WOW  IT LOOKS GREAT!

Here are some more pictures.

BUILD YOUR OWN LAUNCH STATION

CHALKER STUDENTS BUILT THEIR OWN LAUCH STATIONS- PAD AND CONTROLLER!  THEY LOVED  THE ELECTRICAL WORK WITH WIRES AND CONNECTIONS!

EVERY PAD WAS CHECKED BY BURNING AN IGNITOR- ALL WERE SUCCESSFUL!

Some Chalker Moments To Remember...

Mr. Gerald the Custodian has helped us out tremendously by retreiving rockets that land on the roof of the school!  He went up 4 times one afternoon ! We  wanted to thank him and asked him what he would like.  He replied "pies"...He received about 6 pies that season!

Ms. Taylor is the coolest Rocket Teacher Ever!  Her enthusiasm for this program shines through.  She has made just as many rockets as the kids!
