We are Proud to Present

Our Newest Program

"Weird Science..Pharaohs to Forensics"

5 Sessions on Mondays:

Dates: Jan 30, Feb 6, 13, 27, Mar 5

Time: Upon Dismissal until 4:00
(7.5 hours total)

Tuition: $79/student

We are having quite a different program this winter! Testing statistics show that students show lower numbers in "Social Studies/history" and "Science".

We have decided to combine the two, Science and History and present a very unique, and interesting program to the students.

We mentioned our ideas to many students and teachers this past fall, and everyone thought it would be a very exciting program. Please note that there will be No Rocket Building or Launching during this winter program as weather will not permit...However, the hands-on indoor activities will be HUGE!

What we will be doing:

During our Sessions we will, take a "flight" to the past, come to the present, and project into the future!

The Science of Ancient Egypt:

Lots of science...amazing culture!

We will learn the science behind mummification, make a mummy, learn about the pyramids, math and science involved, writing, art.

BEST! We will have a guest Anthropologist share her knowledge and experiences in this session of our program!
Renee Lowe's background is in Native American culture and also has rich knowledge of ancient Egyptian culture.

Science during Medieval times

We will design Medieval castles and make catapults to "Storm the Castle"! Catapults will teach velocity, mass, distance.

Science and Magic

Is it really Magic...or chemistry? We will make invisible ink, do some experiments that will appear to be "magic"...

Forensic Science

CSI and NCIS Fans... Grissom and Abby would like this session!

We will become CSI's, make a CSI kit, take fingerprints, evidence and solve a mystery.

Probing Planets

What would life be like on other planets, what are some NASA projects seeking out, create a tornado in a bottle, learn about the electromagnetic field, build an electromagnet.

WOW!

BUILD AND LAUNCH A

BOOST GLIDER ROCKET

WE WILL BE CONSTRUCTING A ROCKET AND A GLIDER PLANE

The rocket carries the glider plane up, releases it and returns   while the plane glides back to earth.

This is a brand new Rocket for Liftoff!  We will build the Balsa Glider and test it to see its flight pattern.  We will learn to "trim" it with Clay, to make it glide in the direction we wish it to go!

Then we will construct the Rocket which will carry the Glider into space and release it. The Rocket will come down with a streamer and the Glider will glide back to earth!

We have 30 spots available and these classes fill up quickly!.

Thursday is:  MAD SCIENTIST DAY

We will also be studying Newton's 3rd Law:  "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."  On Thursday we will be doing "hands on" experiments to show the students this law in Action!  It will be lots of fun, and I can promise that they will really "get it" when it comes to Newton's 3rd after Thursday!

Please join us for this educational and fun program!

THE BIG  O.J.  FLEW HIGH!

Due West students were excited as their Big "OJ's" flew super high!  Payloads were filled with Lego Men, Pokemon, pretzels, rocks, and many other earthly delights on their journey into the "unknown"!

OUR TALLEST ROCKET YET!

Build and Launch this awesome Rocket!!

Modeled to resemble an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile, this rocket looks every bit the part!

  We have named this rocket:

THE BIG ORANGE ROCKET

At almost 3 feet tall, it is the tallest rocket we have in our School Programs, and is quite a site lifting off the Launch Pad!

Challenging to build but not difficult, this class is appropriate for K-5th Grade.

WOW!  every single station had connectivity!

The students really enjoyed working with wires, screwdrivers and wood!  Not only a "man-thing" we had a lot of girls too!

NEW, UNIQUE AND EXCITING PROGRAM COMING TO DUE WEST IN FEBRUARY

You can now... BUILD YOUR OWN LAUNCH STATION!

We took a survey a while back of 400 of our Students asking if they would like the opportunity to build their own Launch/Pad Controller set up.

 The response was 100% YES!!

This is a one day class - a combination of wood shop and electronics.

Students will work with nuts, bolts, and  and build a control pad complete with circuitry -  All stations are checked for connectivity upon completion!

Now  you will be able to Launch Your Rockets anytime you like!

We bring this program to schools only once every 2 years.

  Oct 09

OUR BABY BERTHA ROCKETS FLEW VERY HIGH!

We all love the Drag Races with 5 Rockets in the air at once!

Students learned about flight, engines, and of course, the beloved "dog-barf"  (what Rocketeers call insulation due to the way it looks..!!)

IT'S ROCKET TIME!

On this visit to Due West we will be constructing and Launching the Baby Bertha Rocket!

It is a FAT rocket, about a foot tall, very durable and flies extremely high!

WE ARE PROUD TO BE PARTNERS IN EDUCATION WITH DUE WEST!

We love Due West and will now be able to be more active in school activities!

WE WERE HONORED TO BE ASKED TO BE JUDGES AGAIN AT THE DUE WEST SCIENCE FAIR

HOW CAN THESE KIDS BE SO SMART?  WE WERE
AMAZED AT HOW INTELLIGENTLY THEY DESCRIBED AND EXPLAINED THEIR PROJECTS!

THANKS FOR INVITING US!

WE ARE SO HAPPY TO BE BACK AT DUE WEST WITH

FLYING SAUCER WORKSHOP!

This is a very exciting class for students of all ages!     It is Priceless to see the Expressions on the kids faces when their "creation" comes to life and flies high into the sky!   Great sense of accomplishment here!

This is a 2-day class. One day is for construction of the saucers, and the other day is for Launching.   Launch Day is a family event, and more info will come to you via email as the time gets closer!

Please join us in the Fun and Educational Class!   Parents are always welcome to sit in on the Classes.
